This IPA pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a white head. The nose seems to smell of fruit, but is not sweet. It could be the mango, but also smells like stonefruit. The taste is closer to mango, but is closer to tart than sweet. I don't know that I taste much of the vanilla and the coconut and lactose are limited to supporting cast. It's a clean mouthfeel, though the residual keeps me from wanting to drink it too quickly.

It's an interesting option, with unique flavors, but it's not sweet, despite the fruit and vanilla description from the brewery.

The Coastal IPA is a sweet and tropical experience. It is a burst of mango and coconut from the first sip. The flavors do tend to fade as the beer is consumed. The scent is vanilla which rounds out the experience; the whipped cream on top of fruit.

Served in a goblet glass from the can.

Appearance: Hazy yellow with medium bubbles to the body.

Smell: Heavy sweet warm sugar with doses of pineapple and fruit. I want to inhale it.

Taste: Sweet Caribbean fruits, hard doses of pineapple accompanied with hints of vanilla. It's ridiculously addicting... especially if you love a thing tropical.

Mouth: Sticky with a soft tangy finish. Carbonation is medium at best with thirst quenching feel.

Overall: Very good brew. Seriously a milkshake IPA that isn't overly like a dessert but much more like a malt drink. Salud!

Seemed like a good idea for a warm weather beer so I gave it a go and Im so glad I did. Its smooth while maintaining a good about of hop bitterness. The fruit, lactose and vanilla play a supporting role in this beer and dont hog up the stage like so many other fruited IPAs do. You get just enough of the added goods to give yourself a tropical getaway, if only in your mouth, and then it's rught back to reality: IPA. Good stuff!

Poured from 16oz tall can into my BeerAdvocate teku. No packaging date on the can. Label says this is an "India pale ale with coconut, mango, vanilla and lactose".

Appearance: rich murky-yellow hue with a massive 3+ fingers of frothy ivory foam. Damn nice!

Smell: coconut and tropical fruit aromas up front; definitely mango but other notes in there as well. I mean; it smells like a daiquiri in beer form, which I'm sure is pretty much what they were after.

Taste: well I would say it tastes like coconut, mango, vanilla and lactose, but you don't need me for that. It is, as the phrase goes, "just what it says on the tin". It's good, though, if a little reminiscent of suntan lotion.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess; not really surprising given that huge initial head and the presence of lactose.

Overall: I do like this beer, even if it is kind of cheating a bit. I could have a few of these on the beach or by the pool, for sure.

Smells like a tropical mixed drink. Taste is heavy on the coconut but the mango comes through as it warms. Reminds me of a rum based tropical mixed drink.
