This Kristallweizen pours only...moderately Kristall. Brief 1.5" head with only brief retention, settling out to a thin ring of head, next to no lacing. Nose is lemon peel, sourdough bread, a tiny bit of baking spice, but not too much beyond that. Taste is rather lemon-forward - not exactly sour, but not at all suggestive of the style; no banana, clove, phenol. Some very light yeast and dough character, but I would have thought this was a saison or a random wild of some kind. Big, fat carbonation on the palate doesn't help things out either, as it contributes to this drinking heavy. Love to see folks making less popular styles, but this wasn't a successful reflection of it.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a thin collar around the edge and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of banana- and clove-like yeast are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors imparted by the yeast are a bit stronger.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink but the aromas and flavors of the banana and clove are subtle.
