In celebration of our 10th Anniversary we are excited to release this throwback. It’s been seven years since this beer was last brewed in 2018 and Barry is still working on filling in 95% of his beard. A refreshing and easy-drinking Irish-style red ale. The delicate character of English malts shine in this beer with hints of sweet caramel, toasted white bread, and a light cocoa powder finish.

Pours a handsome dark red-amber with plenty of foam in the New Belgium snifter. Taste is malty and roasted with a tangy, fruity finish. This is less earthy and more of a fruit flavor than many Irish Reds. Moderately sweet as typical for the style, but pleasing and malty. Some lemony notes in the aftertaste along with a slight seeds 'n' stems astringency that is quite welcome. Overall this is a better than average Irish Red and another fine interpretation of random beer styles from Lucky Envelope. From the 16 oz can purchased at Special Brews. No apparent date.

This is for the 10th anniversary throwback version.

The pour is quite nice. Good crisp deep copper... like on the verge of transitioning from copper to brown. A good finger of offwhite head that dissipates to a fuzzy covering. Not much lacing.

Nose has the sweet caramel malts that I love in the style. Some light earthy hops. It's enticing.

Nice simple straightforward profile. Not quite as much depth or richness to the malts as I'd prefer, but not thin or anything by any means either. Just drier and earthier. Maybe a hint of chocolate and then some spicy hops.

The finish is earthy bitter and tasty. It lingers but does not become cloying.

I like this one. It's not going to become my favourite red or anything, but it's a solidly enjoyable representation of a style that really does not get enough love from brewers these days.
Cheers!!
