2021 Double Happiness: Coffee-Vanilla Whiskey Barrel Imperial Porter

Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a quarter finger dark khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with dry biscuit, vanilla, light cocoa and coffee and boozy whiskey. Flavor is dark toasted malt, coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and light whiskey. Vanilla whisky finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. An pleasant, chocolate and vanilla porter with lighter coffee character and some whiskey in the background that shows up more in the finish. The coffee is somewhat subdued, but melds well with the substantial malt body that is well constructed for barrelling. Although one of the more dominant flavors, the vanilla is well integrated. Lots of alcohol burn in the aroma, but ABV well covered in the taste. One of the best porters I've had from Lucky Envelope and promising for future barrelled offerings.
