Smooth roasted grain flavor with minimal bitterness. Pours a clear dark red with adequate foam in the Orval chalice. Rather subtle aroma of grain. Only a slight hint of sweetness but some mellow malty taste. Flavors of roasted malt and a winey note. Just a hint of bitterness that might be hops or it might be charred barley.
