Collaboration with Highland Brewing
This year's annual Lunar New Year collaboration with Asheville's Highland Brewing was inspired by Highland's late founder, our dear friend Oscar Wong. We celebrate Oscar's awe-inspiring legacy by putting a Year of the Fire Horse twist on his favorite oatmeal porter recipe. Roasted cacao nibs complement the warm cinnamon and the delicate use of smoked sea salt adds an underlying savory salinity.

Very dark brown, near black, clear with sticky beige foam in the Pilsner glass. Aroma is confusing and a total spice bomb. I think cinnamon is rarely a good idea in beer, but here it is with smoked salt. Pleasant sudsy mouthfeel. Quite sweet and salty as well. Then it's quite sharp with bitter chocolate for the aftertaste. Overall it's sippable enough, but a very tiresome flavor. From the 16 oz can purchased at Town Y Country Market.
