Poured from 33cl bottle into Chimay goblet. Swished the bottle.
L-pumpkin/amber color with very deep off-white head
S-Citrus peel, spice, yeasty bread
T-Brioche, candied citrus, slightly medicinal spices, hop bitterness at the end
F-Dry, very carbonated
Slightly heavy for a tripel, relying on more bready flavors. A hearty entry to the family.

Great fruity and malty tripel. There is lots of carbonation but the foam is very unstable. The use of eukalyptus is suberb. It is hardly noticeable but clearly adds to the overall complexity. Could improve in carbonation and looks but that is only minor in my opinion

33cl bottle. Hazy amber pour with a medium height white head. Smells of eucalyptus, redcurrant, orange, honey and rose perfume. The taste follows the same notes, with some additional grapefruit and yeast flavors.

Tre Fontane
Tripel – 8.5% - 330ml Bottle - Best before 13.04.2018
I have been looking forward to trying this unusual trappist tripel from Italy for some time now and have read quite a few reviews on it. According to www.trappist.be: “This beer is sold only in Tre Fontane's monastery store and a few restaurants in Rome.” (I paid 14 euros for a bottle that I ordered from an online store in Belgium). First impressions: very nicely packaged, looks classy and understated.
Appearance: Bronze cloudy beer with a nice foamy one finger white head. Highly carbonated. Excellent head retention.
Aroma: Big hiss and instantly a peppery aroma fills the air upon cracking the lid. After pouring, nose to the glass and… curry?! Strong eucalyptus. Spices and a sulphur type aroma coming in now. This beer certainly has a very unique aroma.
Taste: I read on the abbeys website earlier that the eucalyptus is supposed to clean the palate and leave the mouth feeling fresh and that is exactly what it does. The aroma was worrying me before I tasted it but I actually quite like it. Upfront you get that pepper taste that was in the aroma, then some nice malt flavours come through in the middle, followed by a little alcohol warmth and then the eucalyptus comes through in the finish, which is long lasting and - surprisingly - works very well, it really complements the beer.
Mouthfeel: Can feel the high levels of carbonation on the tongue then when you swallow it becomes a little dry but it also warms the palate slightly in a deep-heat kind of way due to the eucalyptus.
Overall: I have to say, it is very unusual and not one that I could drink too often but, having said that, if it was more readily available, I would certainly keep a couple of bottles in the cellar as I have thoroughly enjoyed drinking this one. 9 / 10

Hazy golden yellow in color with a fat white head on top. The head fades to a thick lace. Smell is light and fruity. Hints of yeast are present. Taste is also light crisp with hints of fruit and a tart finish. This beer is crsip an bubbly in the mouth and light on the tounge. A very nice beer.
