September 19th, 2015 - Duck Foot does good work, but gets less credit than it should being up in Miramar next to some titanic beer making neighbors. Their coconut porter is one of my favorites, so I was eager to try the hazelnut porter and see if it is up to snuff. The aroma resembles soft rich soil, but is subtle in doing so, and isn't too effusive. Given the style and nice aroma, the flavor is pretty pale. Light bodied, it has a little hazelnut flavor but not much depth, and pales in comparison to another hazelnut porter I enjoyed recently at Rip Current. The aftertaste improves on the flavor in general, bringing in sweet carrots and potatoes, but puts into perspective how weak the foretaste is.

Picked up a bottle of this, now under the name of ChocoNUT Lust. ABV listed at 5.9%. Stamp on label 052516. Nearly opaque black appearance, light revealing a deep mohogany hue. Pours with a cola-like fizz. Very thin head, fading to a near-flatness. Trails of foam lingering with no lace.

Aroma is roasty hazelnuts, almonds and cacao nibs. Notes of milk chocolate, sweet lactose, marshmallow, cinnamon, toffee, malt, caramel. Straightforward for its namesake. On the lighter side, slightly smooth but a little too much carbonation for my liking. Sweet with a touch of bitterness. Not a bad brew. Will be trying more from Duck Foot.

Got to try from their first bottled batch, very excited.
Standard look, dark brown body with a thin, tan head.
Smells great, roasty, nutty, spicy, there's alot goin on here.
And this taste... am I at Starbucks or something? Tastes like a cinnamon hazelnut mocha or something. Plenty of coffee flavor, blended nicely with spices and hazelnuts. A titch of chocolate at the back end. Delicious.
Such a smooth beer, goes down so easy, I almost forgot I was drinking it.
Overall, fantastic porter. Suffice it to say, one of Duckfoot's best brews.

On Nitro tap at brewery tasting room, 5.9% ABV, 24 IBU.

Big sudsy glassful of foam. Clear dark rusty brown. Really a tasty dark beer, just sweet enough to be in the classic Porter style.

Lovely aroma of roasted grains. I really don't taste hazelnuts, which is a good thing in my book, but there is a roasty, toasty, nutty flavor that's quite pleasant. Hint of bitterness with some chocolate. A little edge of burnt malt but highly drinkable.
