London is calling and it says drink more Duck Foot. And it turns out so do the 2017 San Diego International Beer Festival Judges who awarded the London Calling a gold medal! For this big beer, we took our Chocolate Hazelnut Porter recipe and cranked everything up to 11. Twice the cocoa, twice the hazelnuts and a lot more dark and roasted malts make this a dangerous but delicious drink.

Outstanding porter from a brewery that's new to me. Pours a nice, thick, toffee-chocolate brown color that's thick and luscious. Nice amount of tan head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells great - dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, stone fruit and a hint of coconut. Taste follows the nose, except that the toasted coconut really comes through - and not in an overpowering, "tropical" way. Almost reminds me of an Almond Joy bar, in a really good way. Just so well-balanced. Also detect some hazelnut and faint raisin, as well as the malt and roasted nuttiness. Smooth, slightly thick, luscious mouthfeel that coats the palate a little. Just the right amount of carbonation. An excellent porter with a very well-hidden ABV and I could easily drink this one too quickly.
