When we first came across "Zappa", this totally wild improvisational jam of a hop from New Mexico, we had to brew a tribute to one of biggest musical heroes, Frank Zappa - The Grand Wazoo himself! Through a mutual friend (thanks Pete!), we reached out to his son, Ahmet, who loved the idea.

The Zappa hop, like the man, has a hugely eclectic style. Published flavor notes have ranged from passion fruit, mint, spcy, savory, fruity cereal, and uh...purple. (Try the beer, you'll get it). Just like Frank, this hop is one of a kind and awesome.

We also know Frank loved grapefruit, so we added Simcoe hops with a smidge of Cascade to boost that sweet citrus flavor with a zany bitterness - appropriate flavors for pairing with St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast in your buddy Joe's Garage.

Thanks for helping us support out of work musicians during these trying times, while also knocking another item off our bucket list. Cheers!

I am definitely in a Zappa fan club where I work, I had to try this IPA! Looks a clear gold like many IPAs I drink. A very pleasant aroma, definite grapefruit and citrus flavor. At 7%, it is at the minimum of my preferred range. The can art is just wonderful, as it should be. Fresh Zappa pics from the Zappa Trust, along with some FZ quotations. I really enjoyed the experience. I trust I will not be quoting the name after drinking a few of these. Where is that Hot Rats disc...

Clear, light gold body; excellent carbonation, fine and slowly rising; thick, soapy, white head; sticky patches of foam adhere to the glass. Light, bready malt smell blended with notes of pine resin. Light cereal grain base flavor with a punchy, mildly fruity and spicy taste; mild alcohol presence. Medium body; crisp and prickly on the palate; moderately dry mouthfeel overall.

This IPA delivers a straight-forward west coast styled IPA experience. It's clean and crisp overall and brings a fine, bold hop bitterness and flavor palate to the table.
