Sixty Shilling
Research by beer historians has shown that much of what we assume about Scottish beers of the 19th century is inaccurate. Here is a heritage recipe from 1879, showing that rather than being copper-colored and sweet, the Shilling Ales were in fact light-bodied and big on US hops.
A light pale golden ale with a delicate malt base and a powerful amount of bittering hops.
