Served from tap in a shaker pint glass at Bobber's.
Wanna know why it's "royal"? I assume it's a play on the addition of honey, kind of a queen bee reference. Again, so I assume. Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises powdered sugar, light white bread, mild sweetbread, and a bit of honey (though that may just be psychosomatic at this point). The taste generally brings in more of the same, with a nice wave of spicy rye in the finish. It's basically a sweeter-end-of-the-spectrum blonde ale (almost a cream ale, really) that finishes with some rye spice for an added flair. Right on. The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a liquid feel. Overall, this is a pretty enjoyable beer all-around. It's eminently drinkable, reminding me of a more robust Genny Cream that wanted to rebel against her tight-ass parentals. I could easily see drinking plenty of these, and I feel it's the best offering Black Belt has delivered thus far.
