April 29th, 2015 - The 2 Griffs Pale Ale might need a few more Griffs. As the recipe stands, it produces an ale with a satisfactory aroma but a disappointing flavor. On the former, it has a nutty and peanut rich aroma with a little bit of bitter apple skin. And then the flavor turns over and bursts with a confusing rainbow of fruity esters, including banana and mango. But the flavor is dulled and muddied by an overly thin mouthfeel. It's almost like fruit flavors have fermented and rotted just a little bit - more of a wilt, but to a degree where I move on to the next brew.
