Scotch Ales are strong ales, also known as "Wee Heavy." Scotch Ales traditionally go through a long boil in the kettle for a caramelization of the wort. This produces a deep copper to brown in colored brew. "Body and Soul" is a jazz standard written in 1930 with lyrics by Edward Heyman, Robert Sour and Frank Eyton; and music by Johnny Green. Just as the jazz tune was named, this beer has wonderful body and was created from the soul of Blue Earl. The beer recipe includes the use of Maris Otter and other specialty malts with Goldings hops used to add a slight bitterness enough to balance the malt. A malt bomb in your mouth! Sláinte!

Draft at brewery. Mahogany pour with thin beige head. Big malty aroma with a bit of heat. Taste reveals a lot of malts, some peat, bitterness creeps in late. Nice feel .
