Rather basic taproom area, the place looks like it just opened. Off flavours from the beers. Upgraded rating October 2018 and sgain march 2019.

Stopped in at 5:30 on a Saturday evening. River Rouge is located on the end of a strip of businesses along Fourth St about two blocks off of the main drag. There's nothing beyond except for a CVS, a park, and neighborhoods, so it's very much an easy-to-miss place.
Unassuming on the outisde, it's also unassuming on the inside. Everything is very functional and there's not of room for superfluous decor. There's three picnic-style tables (like the interior seating at Griffin Claw) with benches, and an L-shaped bar with 10 or 12 additional seats. You enter, approach the small leg of the L, place your order and drink.
You're surrounded by barrels with airlocks in place, plastic cone fermenters, and other brewing supplies. One wall has a projector screen that was showing the Tigers game. Like I said, there's no room for anything superfluous
Staff is friendly and fast. I was with two BMC drinkers, and the pub tenders were quick with recommendations that ended up pleasing them.
Beer itself was fair-to-good. Chips, water, or pop available for a buck a piece. No other food. Dog friendly for folks in the neighborhood. Pours come in 5,8, or 12oz. Bonus points for 8 oz pours, also sells canned 12 oz and 16oz to go.
Definitely will return, there's a fair variety there (16 taps going that evening).

Smaller, newer brewery in Royal Oak. They've had some great stuff on tap every time I go in. they allow dogs, which is awesome. Check it out if you're in the area.
