750ml bottle, 2016 Limited Release stamped on the label, poured into a stemless wine glass. Enjoyed on 7.2.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a bright ruby red color, nice and opaque, garnet hues, really pretty color. A foamy white head rises with great retention and spots of lace. The aroma is nice, jammy raspberry, lots of fresh and seedy aromas with light acidity, a hint of lemon peel and some barnyard funk and a hint of pie crust. The flavors echo the nose well, soft raspberry, lemon zest, the jamminess builds as it warms, more sweet with a deeper raspberry expression, almost hints of blackberry come out as well with a nice funky profile and a touch of chewy oak that lingers. The mouthfeel is good, crisp and lively, coating with a lighter medium body and a dry but tart finish.
Verdict: A very nice raspberry wild ale from Alefarm. Lots of great raspberry flavor but the nuanced funk is well done and the acidity and tartness is restrained making this very approachable and balanced.
