Ébène is an imperial stout with Brazilian Sorocabana coffee.
Flavor is a balance between dark, dried fruits (raisin and dried plums), caramel and dark sugar (from the candi syrup in the recipe) and the darker, roasted notes from the coffee. Coffee is apparent on the nose, initial flavor, and most notable in the after taste, with notes of dark chocolate and roasted character. The specialty malts and English yeast strain both contribute to the dark fruit and caramel flavors. Very smooth, light body makes it easy to drink.

Copenhagen 22/5 2020. 44 cl can from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. Brown can with patterns resembling the structure of wood.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a small light beige head. Stable. Settles as flimsy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Hanging on to the side of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a strong sweet chocolate odor and a roasted whiff. Sweet cocoa. Coffee, licorice bitterness. Hints of sweet pecan pie. All things nice with a subtle bitter edge.
Light carbonation. Thick, viscous, soft, sooth, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a surprisingly light sweetness followed by a strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and potent. Dry finish.
A gentle nose and a searing mouth.
