Homer Brewing

Quick stop while visiting Homer AK. Opens early afternoon but closes about 7:00pm. We showed up @ 4:00 on a Wed and place was packed with cheerful, happy beer crowd. Lovin’ life with glass in hand. Wide selection of craft brews across 9 taps and a beer engine…with focus on sessionable pub style ales. But enjoyed fact that they played with other unexpected styles. The Skyline Spruce Tips was happy tip of hat to old school Scandinavian brewing, and the Solitude Imperial Stout was a likewise TOH to British pubs. All beers are cask conditioned. Snacks for purchase but no food otherwise. Unsure if food trucks on other days. Setting is fairly small with table table/high stools that seat about 30. Lots of swag/glassware.Tunes overhead.
Had good conversation with Aaron, who works and shared HBC has been in operation since 1996. Impressed they brew some beers without carbonation intended strictly for beer engine.
All in All a relatively small really pleasant place to enjoy a relaxing brew or two.
Given chance to visit Homer again, I’ll be back!

 

Staff was so busy it felt like I was annoyance . . . bummer for a place with such great beer.
