33 cl bottle, poured room temp into a pair of taster’s snifters, in Toulouse, France, on New Year’s Eve 2023.
Black mass. Darkness prevails! Perfectly headless.. you get no lace.,.
Big boomer on the nose.,rich with dark stone fruits, dates, coffee., mmm.. dry chocolate., vodka burn.,
Fortified with layers of richness., prunes, dash of soy sauce, the 2023 version is ‘only’ 21% ABV (compared to earlier versions @ 23%.,.). and is full on aggressive throughout.,.
Mouth expands and moves well. Not over hefty.,. Low gurgles of carbonation.,
Overall, the obvious comparison would be DFH World Wide Stout. It comes up short, IMO, by the alcohol burn., yeah yeah., sit on it for a year. Bet it’ll be a killer.,.

Well well well... La Débauche you blow me away at any of your audacious attempt of that kind.

So 24hours boil, 2 tons of malt, 96hours of ice-distilling and a few months in Cognac barrels were necessary to make this beauty.

Congratulations you guys, those efforts were not in vain.

Even at 23% alc./vol this is one of the most balanced and refined beer I've ever had the chance to try. This is a world class beverage.

It shows a beautiful leg with this dark ruby body. It's viscous and clean.

You've got a nose amazingly complex with beautiful Cognac notes, as well as caramel and chocolate notes.

The taste continues with a perfect balance between the residual sweetness and the well hidden alcohol presence (no I didn't say booziness because there is none). Yo'uve got layers of flavours with grapy Cognac, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits and a bit of nuts. The whole thing lingers for days in your mouth.

The texture is rich, dense but silky. The high glycerol level does it effects here. The gentle carbonation is here to remind you that, yes you're in the world of fermented beverages here and not on candy-made cloud.

I'm glad that I had the chance to try this one. And even more glad that I still have one in my basement. Thank you guys
