Blind-tasted with zero research or cheating!
L- Deep chestnut brown with a 5mm mid-tan fine-bubble foam lid. It's bottle conditioned and minor sediment lifts into the pour right at the end. ps. the foam cap is holding well at +10mins.
S- On opening the bottle I thought I'd opened a high-ABV% fruity US hop-bomb. It certainly has a fruit note, somewhere in the vicinity of mandarin orange. I think; my nose isn't that of a blood-hound and I'm one week past getting a certain virus
T- The same 'mandarin' note comes through loud and clear in the taste. It comes with a warmth/richness though so it's not at all sharp or bitter.
F- It feels like it's name 'd'hiver', of winter, it's pretty rich and one for slow sipping. That's rich BTW and not sweet which I cannot abide. ps. I'm glad I started this chilled as as it warms a touch it's richness builds a touch...
O- If you told me this was an Xmas beer aged in orange-liquer barrels I might believe you. It's different, well put together, nothing shouting out of place. A nice one for slow-sipping. The only key mystery for me is what is it's fruit note and from where does it derive. I'll look into that after finishing/rating it.
330ml bottle £5.99 Bought from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge, UK. BB: rubbed but some date in 2023.
p.s. The only clue on the lable is that it contains 'epices', spices...
