33 cL can, poured into a snifter, in Toulouse, France. Packed 2/21/2024; 47 days to opening.
Rich head tops black brew.
Nose is deceiving - opening the can, I expected ‘peanut something’, but could only detect rich chocolate malt, prune, espresso, and a touch of pipe tobacco.
Taste - nice rich base stout brings a good texture, rich, not-over sweet maltiness, and an unexpected bitter hop tang. And then a sublime dusting of peanut powder blooms way late and fades away. 10% ABV is well cloaked. Interesting.,.
Mouth is short of the overly thick pastry stouts of the USA. This is a medium full brew, with medium carbonation.
Overall, here is an alright Imperial Stout that doesn’t need so many descriptive words on its marquee.
