Poured into a pilsner glass and served at the bar, this beer yields a rich brown color and brilliant clarity when held up to the light. The head is extremely large and off-white, with beautiful lacing and a determined staying power. This is the most appetizing wee heavy I have seen up to this point in my drinking days.

The first whiff of this beer has a hint of sweet caramel with some serious peaty smokiness. No hops are apparent but the peatiness does develop into a horse blanket like aroma as the beer warms, however it's not overwhelming and it is the only thing I can find that doesn't make this beer amazing.

As for the flavor, there is plenty of peat just as the aroma would suggest, but that is not all this beer has going for it. With hints of caramelization, an obvious smokiness and a subtle nuttiness this beer's moderate carbonation and full body really round out its rich malty flavors. This beer is a real winner in all aspects.

As for drinkability, I ordered two of these on December 30th and the next day I rang in the new year with three more. If you're in Wichita, stop by and get this beer while you can.
