June 26th, 2015 - The thematic Red Owl is Barn Brewery's way to offer shaggy, rusty, hoppy beer. The scent has it and the flavor has it, but in a much worse way. Beginning with the aroma, it is quite hoppy with that metallic rustiness that I enjoy, and a little bit of a red ale malt sweetness. But things fall apart. The palate is thin and ends with a sterilizing chlorine flavor, with might come across as underripe pineapple. Either way, it's not great.
