why is there not a category here on BA for belgian blonde? seems weird, but thats what this one is, not a classic belgian pale, not nearly hoppy enough for that. this was my favorite of the couple of beers we had in here. its petty, bright golden from the tap with a tall belgian looking white head. nice lace as it drinks down. it smells great, not run away belgian yeast but distinctly estery, pear and white wine notes to it, even apricot for a second, vinous through for sure, faint pepper and even a flash of anise, pretty interesting. the flavor is mellow, the yeast not as overt as it is in the aroma, balanced by a lightly citrusy hopping and a honey sweet note from the malt, simple, earthy, delicate, well refined, highly drinkable. the yeast is still the main flavor agent, but it has some help from what appears to be a dry hopping, giving this a real juiciness. its clean in the finish, dry, and carbonated really well, professionally done overall and a nice flavorful take on this style. i thought the beer in here was excellent.
