The entire contents of pint can were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. A proper sized stark white head resulted. The liquid beneath is dull and cloudy amber. The aroma is one expected from a Kolsch. There's lager-like hops and an ale-like malty backbone. To taste, somehow there's a little sourness there that, at least becomes off-putting, if only because it surprises. Unfortunately, the taste buds never adjust to it through the finishing of the sixteen ounces. The ale malt flavor is hard to find, which makes a Kolsch a wonderful hybrid. The hops are at a level expected from this style. Perhaps by attempting to make a juicier Kolsch, the brewer went too far by adding a citrusy bite, which doesn't work for drinkers that like the style just as it is. There's no glass lacing, no surprise, as this falls short of delivering an ale's body. The head didn't last long, nor did the beer in the glass. It was best to down it quickly and move on.
