I received a bottle from @roguer in NBS BIF #13. Poured into a snifter. It pours a deep walnut, approaching black, with a small, light mocha-colored head and thin, creamy film of lacing. The nose offers roasted malt, cocoa, and whiffs of freshly-brewed coffee, tobacco, and anise. While I didn't smell any coconut I can taste it, along with cocoa and burnt coffee grounds. As it warms there are increasing notes of vanilla and smoky char. There is only the slightest hint of bourbon. All of the flavors are delicate and they blend seamlessly. The mouth feel is creamy with moderate carbonation and the 9.2% ABV is not apparent. Overall, this is a delightful Imperial Stout that I'm enjoying on a Saturday night with a movie.
