L- Pours mid-gold, clear, with 3mm white head, that clears within a minute or two.
S- Mild, some hoppy aroma. There is some sense of it's body, perhaps some fruit/apple?
T- I taste the 'apple?' edge now in the flavour. I haven't read the can yet and I wonder if it can ID it. It has a decent hoppy dryness...
F- ... which balances a reasonably meaty body quite well. As typical with a Japanese beer it's well carbonated in the mouth.
O- There is something rather alt/adjunct going on here; have they used rice in it too, or an alt/adjunct for some malt?
Overall it's like a nudge towards a rich premium Euro-lager. It's drinkable but is nothing special and certainly not worth the price if buying outside Japan.
Ingredients listed on the translated adhesive lable added to the can state 'Malt, hops' - only.
Googling this one I was quite surprised to see their website says it was the winner of the WBA 2019 Golden Ale category.
BB: Jan-2020. Bought from Ichiba Japanese Supermarket, Westfield, London/W12. £6.50/350ml can (typical size there), so a purchase I will not be repeating!
- Can design is a stylised image of a glistening white waterfall where it is falling into an azure blue pool below. I believe the suggestion (in Japanese symbolism) is that it is a refreshing/cooling beer to drink.
