Great Burn Brewing

 

 

a little south of town but a place worth checking out, pretty ambitious beers in a comfortable and casual spot, high and open on the inside even though the capacity is small, and a real nice patio out front too, cool building, relaxing and mellow right away. i was impressed with the list, a lot of offerings for a small spot like this, maybe a dozen brews on, but i only had time for a few so i picked two that jumped out. the first was a jasmine green tea ipa that was excellent, hop forward but distinct with the jasmine and tea, real nice, the second was a much less impressive lager with lime zest and salt, almost amateur and quite weird, so the jury is still out a little bit on quality here, but at least they are taking some risks. the service was excellent, friendly, even chatty, and well informed. cool beers in here, no pretension at all, and a place where all are welcome, i enjoyed my time and think they fill a neat role in the local scene here. a cool stop if you are making the brewery rounds.
