Vancouver 25/7 2018. 65 cl bottle from High Point on E Hastings Street. Naivistic drawing of guy with hipster beard carrying som corn ears.
Pours hazy dark amber with big white head. Settles as a frothy 1 cm thick layer of foam. Clinging to the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense and on the sweet side. Caramel, tanned leather, tobacco with hints of espresso coffee and some tart berries.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily texture.
Flavor has strong sweetness. Followed by a lighter tart bitterness. Aftertaste is of unripe berries with an undercurrent of caramel.
Nicely balanced between the sweet and the tart.

Solid altbier that doesn't seem domestic!
Malty but not sweet, balanced bitterness, nice hopping.
Flavour is right up there with the P49 colab, but this it a more sessionable strength.

Look: A deep ruby heart with immediate exited head. Though I have no authority to state such a comparison, and could very well be mistaken, I will say that the visuals of this beer tend towards that of barley wine.
Aroma: There are grains, toasted sunflower seeds and dates. On a more excessively imaginative level, it is as if I am in a crackling cracker jack field. When pushing the limits of olfactory appreciation, felt and corduroy also assert themselves. Deep liquor accents, maybe port of sherry, are also present followed by woodchips flitting about the edges.
Taste: I am in an autumn park surrounded by dry grass and the remebrance of a rabbit cage. This is fecundity made liquid, Gaea's sweet clods of fertile soil. Sugary esters and noble hops coat this elemental pleasure as the drink warms towards its conclusion when, at the very end, pear and grape esters seem to emerge.
Overall: This is the sweat of time past labouring to produce a testament to its own persistence. I am inhaling and ingesting fields of utter sustenance, slurping the very essence of grain and dark, muscular sugars. This beer is father raising his child on his shouldesr and walking out into the world.
An awesome experience.

On tap at the brewery, Vancouver.
Rusty amber with white film. 4
Big toasty melanoidin bread crust. 4.25
Sweet malt, hint of cherry, big toast and Noble cut to end. 4
Autumn lead crunch finish and clean ending.
Lt-med, crisp, dry. 3.75
Solid Alt, maybe a bit light. I want a bit more melanoidins and IBUs (this is low, at 25) but mad drinkable. I’d happily stay on this all day, which is the point of this style. 4
