16oz glass at the Underground in DTYEG - they of the summertime lacking atmosphere, sadly. Anyways.
This beer appears a clear (I think), dark orange-brick tinted brown colour, with one finger of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy tan head, which leaves some decent Swiss cheese pattern lace around the glass as things rather slowly progress - cheers to the knowledgeable Belgian couple next to me who were so distractingly engaging.
It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, biscuity toffee, bittersweet cocoa powder, a touch of sour graininess, cafe-au-lait, and some tame earthy, leafy, floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, a lesser caramel sweetness, some free-range char, tacky medium chocolate, lightly soured cream, and a still underwhelming leafy, weedy, and musty floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite weak in its bored-seeming frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with a meek creaminess arising out of my social tardiness. It finishes well off-dry, the toasted caramel, cocoa, and lactic characters shuffling me out the back door.
Overall, this is a fairly pleasant and easy drinking version of the style, with the guest rye ingredient keeping it on the down low. Well worthy of a try if you get the chance.

Bottle: Poured a black color stout with a brown color head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of bitter dry roasted malt with light black chocolate notes. Taste is also a mix of dry roasted malt with some black chocolate notes and some bitter roasted malt notes. Light peppery rye notes are also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad but doesn’t necessarily stand out either.

I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in a small glass.
Appearance: extremely dark brown with plenty of haze and a thin layer of tan foam. I like it.
Smell: sweet with a bit of roast. There's some underlying spicy complexity from the rye, too, but it doesn't come together super well.
Taste: roasty, toasty and with a bit of spicy rye character. It's a bit heavy, but overall decent.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a big creaminess which comes together quite well. I dig it.
Overall: an interesting beer. A bit rough around the edges, but for the most part quite drinkable.

Pours a dark brown almost black colour with a thick tan head. The nose leads with coffee, chocolate and dark roasted malts. The flavour profile follows much the same but there is a slight spiciness in the finish to go along with a slight hoppiness. The carbonation is quite gentle and gives the beer a creaminess. A pretty tasty little stout.

On tap at 6 Acres, Vancouver.
Solid tan carpet over jet. 4
Honey roasted ham nose. 4
Ash and anchovies up front, some root beer, a bit of spice, then smooth caramel end. 3.75
Ginger hard candy finish and dark rye bread linger.
Medium, round, creamy yet dry. 4.25
Jagged flavors, smooth feel. Pours like it’s on nitro. Rye is well integrated - this pulls together a lot of disparate notes. Maybe not enough to call it “Pacific NW” - Magnum and Cascade are quiet - but a lot more going on than the average stout. Promising for a new brewery. 4.25
