Taster at Brewery. Pale golden, gentle haze, head non-existent. Grainy aroma, hint of lemon. Taste is dry, grainy, light citric notes. Kind of dull and flavorless. re-rate 4/10/21: can from Boise Co-op. Hazy golden.pour with a lasting, thick, fluffy head. Aroma and taste are crisp, grainy bready with a nice sharp hop bite and a hint of lemon. Much better than previously rated.

a really poor example of the style. not a bad ale, but they do some nice beers in here, and some sturdy ones too, i needed a well executed lighter beer at the moment, and this just isnt it, trust me. its hazy and oddly dark for a kolsch, immediately too malt visually, regardless of anything else. its weirdly yeasty and i do not mean like a cold conditioned ale strain with some cool fruitiness, i mean a phenolic mess, a beer that needs to be scrapped and started over, nothing about this says kolsch to me, except maybe a light german malty element, but its way in the back compared to all the things that are wrong, and while this could be called some sort of ale and pass as decent, it really fails as the stated kolsch style for me. its way too big, nothing clean or crisp about it in the ferment, and as much as i liked some other beers in here, i didnt even finish my pint of thins one. back to the drawing boards for sure on this one, maybe their weakest offering i have had so far. honestly pitiful as a kolsch, i know they know better. i am shocked they waste their time canning this, and that anyone would buy it more than once. i couldnt imagine looking for a crisp yellow beer and getting home to six cans of this...
