Relook on 10/24/23. Initial rate is solid, but additional props for a creamy body. Bomber is a good format for this style.
10/9/17 Bomber from Albertsons. Clear, dark amber, small creamy head. Malty aroma, brown bread. Taste is more if the malts, not too sweet, kind of dry, caramel. Finishes quick. 3.1

a well made oktoberfest lager here, deep on the malt side, bready and toasted and hearty and autumnal, right for the chilly weather up here this time of year, and one of the more balanced and drinkable beers i had while i was in. its rusty orange in color, has a fast fading white airy head on it, and plenty of carbonation. the lager yeast smells and tastes authentically german to me, and they have done a nice job with it, its old worldy and robust in here, excellent with the slightly sweet malt, a light toffee note to it. nothing overly unique about this, just seems a little malt heavier and fuller than some, but i like the density, especially being later into fall now, and its dry enough that its still very drinkable. i liked this quite a lot, and along with their dunce cap doppelbock they do here, it seems like they have a pretty good handle on the traditional german lagers. a helles would be a nice addition to their list, nothing super light on when i was in and their kolsch didnt quite cut it. this was right on.
