Bottle from Albertsons. Dark brown, some light peeking through, small skin of beige head. Dark malty aroma grows stronger in taste, slightly nutty, roasty, earthy. Mild bitterness finishes it. Spot on.

an affordable bottle of strong bock here. these guys are doing a nice job with the german lagers. i can taste and appreciate an older world yeast strain in this, i just wish it did a little more of its fermenting work on this one, its sweeter than i like any beer to be, big molasses and brown sugar and dark grain sweetness, and a bottle was a big dose as a solo mission, but the flavors here are nice and overall this is pretty good, definitely a winter season brew. deep amber to brown in color, shiny and frothy headed, tan foam on it, great retention and lace, even in my lousy plastic hotel cup. the malt is really rich and long cooked tasting in this, almost barleywine-esque, but a lager. some light cocoa and fig notes here, raisiny and rum sweetness, cane sugar, bran muffin, and minerals. its seemingly quite authentic, and i like the alcohol not being present in this at all, mellow for the style. but the beer still feels really sturdy. a solid cold weather sipper here that checks all the boxes for the style but would be made better in my opinion by being a bit drier. i am liking the classic styles best from these guys so far.
