Six pack from Albertsons. Beautiful pour, hazy amber body with huge fluffy, rocky head. Hoppy, resinous aroma. Taste follows the hop forward approach, mostly hops, but not overdone. Finishes bitter and a tinge metallic. Better than expected.

a real good and a fairly modern ipa, easily the best of the hoppy stuff i had while i was here, at times new school and dry hoppy, at other moments almost english with the grain and the yeast, and also bitter despite all the flavor, this is a winner of a pale, and honestly one of the best beers in here. this has notes of fruit punch red kool aid, but it isnt sweet, just loaded with generic fruitiness. i think i can get most of it, orange and cherry and pineapple, candy though, and there is enough malt and bitterness for this to be balanced and like a craft beer from two decades ago too. thus, it bridges the gap, some starburst candy character, but also enough maltiness for this to be from the time when saved by the bell was popular. its nicely dry hopped, and its clean on the ferment, relatively well refined, especially compared to a lot of their other beers, its clean too. i have good things to say about some of the beer here, less enthusiasm about the rest of it, but this is really good, and a pint at the pub is a win. these guys are the original and still doing solid beers by idaho standards, which are coming up. whats in the pub is better than whats in distribution, im a fan right now!

Appearance: Pours a beautiful deep amber with two fingers of thick off-white head. Leaves nice lacing. One of the prettiest beers to pour.

Smell: Malts and some floral and pine. Very minimal smell.

Taste: Citrus and hops. I feel it needs more taste kick.

Feel: great head, crisp feel.

Overall: I wish it tasted as good as it looks. Nevertheless, it is not too bad. Maybe it needs more abv then it's 4.95%.

Priced at $5... seems high to me for sure... but the brew shows a good white spiderweb lacing after the foamy white head dies back... the beer is clear light copper.

Nose is light citrus hops with a heavier than I would like caramel maltiness.. big diacetyl with warmth.. certainly a flaw that can be worked out in other batches.

Flavor is citrus and light floral hoppiness.. but the finish quickly melts into buttery caramel.. Diacetyl? For sure. I think this time the buttery notes are a yeast derivative and not "quite" a flaw.. but I don't care for it that much. A big slippery distraction.

Medium body for a 5%ABV brew is accentuated by a light carbonation..

Just not digging this one... I REALLY like the label :-)
