Sampled on--tap at the brewery in Salmon; mixed half-and-half with a Sacajawea Stout to create the NutSac beer that they offer, and the flavors meld perfectly, nice and sweet, nutty and still roasty. Real Good.

On tap St Base Camp-Hailey. Kind of a dull pour, flat with non-existent head. Aroma is right on, super nutty. Taste is nutty also, but the watery body detracts from the flavor and overall experience. Very light bodied for a brown. Rerate at brewery. Realky good. Nutty and sweet.

a really neat beer if you like them super flavored. i think the hazelnut element is natural, even though its dominant, and i like the maltiness of the base beer, on the lighter side for a brown ale, amber maybe fits it better, if thats what they were going for, but sort of an english maltiness about it, some caramel and toasted notes to the grain, which works so well with the hazelnut. the beer overall is not too sweet to drink, which is always a concern with this sort of thing. the hazelnut is really strong in the nose but also really appealing, not cheap or fake to me, and more importantly not desserty and like nutella or something, its just the nut. it works super well with the sweeter grains in the flavor, and there is an almost decadent richness about this, even though its also well grounded and sort of earthy to me. its a bit strong in the taste though, and lingers long, making it maybe more of a one and done than a repeater for me, but the actual taste of the hazelnut is impressive, and that there is some grain balance is a good call. looking forward to trying more beers from these guys, this one is ambitious and well pulled off, especially if you are a hazelnut lover. not to be missed.
