can into glass
Looking much like well used motor oil, as it pours out of the can. Very quickly dissipating light brown head. A light shade of black, with a dark brown hue. Opaque, with no sign of light, through the beer glass. Slightly perfumed, lightly sweet, heavily roasted grain aroma, with a hint of caramel. A good part of the IBU count comes from the sharpness of semi-burnt malts, which also amounts to much of the taste, with a hint of burnt toffee which co-exists a bit with the nearly burnt grain in the finish.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger brown head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with a little biscuit, cocoa, coffee and slight vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla developing into a roasty malt and coffee finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A fine, deep bodied stout with good chocolate and lighter, but distinct coffee notes. Nice flavor carry through from start to finish and a pleasant lightly charry chocolate, coffee and light vanilla finish. ABV well hidden. Good job.
