This is my first beer from these guys and it checks all the porter boxes for me, with a black body under a tan head and loads of chocolate and roasty coffee on the nose.

The coffee is actually forward on the taste, balanced by the chocolate and a medium, creamy mouthfeel, which fits the beer really well. This is outstanding, and I am now on the lookout for more from this brewery.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 10/23/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/black/roasted malts, coffee, and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. A bit too burnt/charred on aromas. Taste of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine/herbal/spicy hop and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toasted dark bread, smoke, charcoal, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roasted malts, coffee, and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; with no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is a very good American coffee porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roasted malts, coffee, and moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/charred/drying finish. Balanced fruity/nutty coffee and rich malt complexity; with moderate earthy hop presence. A little too bitter/roasty for the style, but a very enjoyable offering otherwise.

12 oz can traded in from GreenBayBA.

Poured into tall North Coast snifter glass and yields a heavy off-white to beige head of 2 fingers, with a deep, shiny black body.

The aroma from the can was all green pepper, but as it's left to aerate in the glass, I get a much smoother coffee note. Green pepper is still very much apparent, but it is complemented with smooth acidity and fruitiness. That being said up to this point all i've described is coffee, and I'm actually through with the nose. So yes, a coffee nose.

Flavor is sharp and biting with lots of peppery coffee, the smoothness is all gone. I can taste some grainy barley and hints of oat, but I can't help but think that the coffee outweighed the grain, literally, in this recipe. Zero chocolate, zero sweetness. This is completely honed in on total coffee takeover.

Feel is crisp and carbonated, yet yields a creaminess at the same time. Sharp, acidic, tannic coating on the finish.

Overall, a coffee lover's paradise. If you are craving coffee but feel like drinking beer, this is your ticket. I prefer a little more complexity, but to each their own. And really -- for best results, drink from the can. I get a touch more complexity that way, which is odd.

Dark brown body with a lasting, sudsy, light tan head. Big aroma of charred grain and chocolate; faint notes of coffee; a bit sweet. Milk chocolate and vanilla flavors are the immediate impression; the coffee builds up after a while; some sweetness but balanced with a light touch of hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; smooth and a bit watery.

A well-rounded, gently sweet beer with a nice chocolate and faint coffee character overall.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Had 12/21/17.

Pours near black, opaque, with a one and a half inch foamy head and some foamy cling. Aromas of coffee, malt, chocolate, vanilla, raisins, light lactose. The taste is also coffee forward, then chocolate, malt, vanilla, some caramel, light molasses, a light bitterness on the finish. Smooth, slightly creamy, a good body, well carbonated.

The coffee is very good and it’s well balanced and enjoyable. Worth a try.

This beer pours a very dark black color. The head is 3 finger, frothy, and brown.
The nose is fairly bland. I get something, but I really don't know what.
The taste is a lot better than the nose. I get a nice rich coffee favor. There's not too much else to it, except a slight chocolate note to it.
This is a fairly full bodied beer. Not watery at all.
Interesting beer. First one from this brewery. I would be interested in getting more from them the next time I'm in eastern Wisconsin.

Appearance- On tap at the brewery, the beer was served a dark brown color with a mocha colored head. As a bonus, it was served with a chocolate donut hole.

Smell - The beer had a mild coffee nose with a slight sweetness.

Taste - The initial impression was smooth bubbly dark coffee. Chocolate comes toward the back as the coffee evolve to a sweet (almost syrupy) profile.

Mouthfeel - The beer is smooth and creamy almost like a milk stout. The carbonation seems small.

Overall- of the regulars at Stillmank, this is my favorite.
