Extreme hoppyness of this beer a huge killer for me.

Received a growler of this from my mom's boyfriend, super cool!
Pours a wicked dark brown, essentially black, decent sized light brown head on the fresh pours, not much lacing though.
Smell has a strong roasted malt aroma with a slight hint of raisin-y dark fruit.
Taste is surprisingly straightforward yet also a change of pace for a strong stout that doesn't try to be too much, dark roasted malt with a burnt bitterness follow up, only the lightest of dark fruit aspects, carbonation is soft yet ample (also good since it flew from Alaska to Maine), body does seem a touch thin but at the same time it's not a sweet or cloying stout that pounds you over the head with residual sugars or bourbon burn.
