Enjoyed on tap at the source in Oakland.
Malty and smooth. Distinct rye note on the nose and sip, with a strong centennial hop presence to balance it out.

On tap at Birdhaus (Union City, CA) poured into a plastic beer cup. Clear, light brown to amber with a frothy off white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, resin and baked bread. Flavor follows with more pine needles, caramel and earthy, bitter hops and rye spice. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice IPA with extra malt and spice notes.

Consumed May 2019.
Pours dark. This is like a brown colored ipa. There is some clarity to it, and about 1/3" off white head with good retention. A prior review referenced SNPA and this being a modern interpretation, and I gotta say, I feel ya man, there is that aspect here, pretty much substitute that crisp caramel crystal malt note for one of earthy rye and plenty of tree like hop notes smell wise. The non distinct hop aroma beyond trees must be Amarillo.
Taste, the beer drinks lighter than its SRM. Body is crisp, like this is a rye west coast ipa if that makes sense. I think the Centennial hop is the most impactful here, giving those tree like notes and a firm but not overpowering bitterness. Carbonation was good, mouth feel was probably the best aspect of the beer, but it was all good in every category in one way or another.
I'd probably buy this again, especially since I think pops took the sticker from the can.

delightful rye ale - just enough of the rye to give it flavor but still hoppy

Interestingly probably the first ghost town beer I saw and it took me forever to try it.
Nice amber. Head ok.
At first smells like a classic west coast rye ipa but then the smell turns as it warms up. It’s just bad.
The rye and bitter taste is ok with some booziness.
Overall: big disappointment. They don’t date their cans, and I assumed this was a fresh drop but I have no idea.

Wonderful.beer. a simple clean pale ale that let's the rye shine without losing balance or drink ability. Reminds me of a modern take on a sierra Nevada pale ale
Rich amber liquid with the best head ive seen on a ghost town brew
Nose is all earthy hops and crusty bread
Taste is caramel malts with a touch of rye "pepperiness" and a pleasant earthy citrus hop note
Mouth feel is full but very clean

Bottle from Whole Foods. Medium, clear amber, small foamy head. Light aroma points to malts.Taste brings in a bit of the savory, snappy rye , still a solid malt base underneath. Hops add a nice sharp bite that compliments the rye flavors well. Seems light and watery though, although the hops bite lingers for a bit.

Handsome dark orange color with some rings of foam in the big wine glass. Spritzy with a medium body in the mouth. Sharpish but refreshing. Intense rye flavor with the grain, gummy resins, and a touch of spice. I"d call it a Rye Beer but the bewer says it's an IPA. Hops and rye-- what's not to like?
The label lists three hops plus Amarillo and Centennial for the dry hopping. Actually not overly bitter. Smooth and malty with a modest sweetness. This is a really drinkable but bold brew, and one of the best rye beers I've tasted. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods.
