Scissor Hash is our first Fresh Hop IPA of the season, made with only Strata Hops that were jettisoned from their bines on the farm at Coleman Agriculture to our brew deck in West Oakland in just a few hours.
Scissor Hash is 7.2% ABV but who cares about that: it's all about the Hops here and these super fresh Whole Cone Strata Hops did not disappoint. Scissor Hash has sticky notes of Mixed Berries and a lightly Fruity character that balances the aggressive, resinous notes of Pine and Dank to perfection. No need to change the water between each hit of Scissor Hash, this the cleanest banger out.

FH IPA, made with Strata. 2024.
From the tap this pours a vibrant crystalline gold. Light aroma with a delicate FH note, with hints of strawberry flowers. The sip has a fruit forward blend, peach gummies and strawberry essence. A minute salinity graces the palate. Moderate bitterness on the finish.

Shimmeringly clear gold with a lumpy head of white foam.
A biscuity malt is crisply met by bitter hops with citrus rind characteristics. It's just a bit maltier than I'd expect.

Sweet tropical red berry hoppy, slightly malty, and a wisp of a piney-dank nose on this one! Taste follows with a super-clean, malty-sweet, and a piney-hoppy bitter finish. This is so crushable and goes down fast! With these fresh hop westies, I guess I am looking for just a bit more hop expression on the nose and palate...but, that could be just a personal preference thing. This is a very good fresh hop westie!

Can from lupulo Santa Cruz.
Fresh hop ale with 100% fresh strata.
L: Very clear copper, little bubbles, fluffy head with good retention and lace.
S: dank, wet grass, woodsy
T: diggety dank, grass, resinous, melons.
F: slick and dry.
Overall: this is a really good wcipa in its own right. There’s a balanced honeydew sweetness that’s pleasant. The wet strata adds an extra danky presence that’s fun once a year.
