1st review of this beer, also doing a review because I'm not a sociopath. I believe this is a foeder aged version of geisterfaust?
Comes in that familiar golden color with a hint of amber and cloudiness to it. 3/4" white head. Good retention. Unfiltered.
The aroma does indeed display the foeder aging giving a mild woody component to the nose alongside a hearty pilsner sulphur lager yeast. Smells good.
Taste continues to impart the lager yeast meets woody pilsner and light waves of grain. Moderately hopped in a traditional but slightly higher way. The mouth feel is nice and crisp, I had my doubts when looking at the appearance of the beer, thought it was gonna be more like a biere de garde breadiness, but this remained nice and crisp and true to style moreso. Slightly earthy. Comes across as a neat little variant no better or worse than the original I would say. These are nice, wouldn't hesitate to pick another one up, especially for a change of pace on river days.
