Modest head production, even from a turbulent pour. Retention is OK. Body is a nice nutty color, slightly light for a porter (but much closer to porter than to brown ale).
Nose is classic porter: dark fruits, toffee, toast, a bit of coffee, but very low char. Red grapes, prunes, brown sugar. Smells perhaps a touch sweet, but very nice.
Unsurprisingly a touch thin on the palate, given the ABV, but certainly not overly thin; there's a nice overall heft to the body. Fairly dry.
Flavor is reminiscent of Guinness, but smoother. There's a slight sourness to it, as of sharp red grapes, but that is quickly replaced by toast and toffee, along with a sprinkle of brown sugar. Low sweetness; moderate bitterness. Relatively short sip due to the dryness.
Nothing in particular really stands out, but it's quite good. I would take this on tap over Guinness if I happened to be in the UK.

Pours browny black, tiny head.
Aroma of smoke, apple, chocolate
Taste brings some coffee to the table. Dry, low bitterness.
Nice enough, but I think there are a number of better options out there

11.16 oz bottle from TN with a BB date of 20 Oct. 2018.
A: very dark black-brown in color. It poured dark tan head that soon reduces in size but has good retention and left some lacing covering the surface.
S: Moderately strong aroma of smoked malts.
T: Similar to the smell, with dark malts that have notes of smoked peat, dark chocolate and black coffee. Mild bitterness.
M: Medium-full body and medium-light carbonation.
O: a mainstream, slightly bold version of the style.

A: The beer is very dark brown in color. It poured with a a quarter finger high dark tan head that has good retention properties and consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of chocolate and smoked malts are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of dark malts with notes of smoked peat and coffee and hints of chocolate. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This porter has lots of nice flavors of dark malts—I liked the bit of smokiness as this made it seem like a Scottish Porter if there was such a beer style.
