A very simple recipe featuring only two main grains and one hop. Given it’s simplicity, it is a malty, complex beer.

This was solid and not a bad brew but not up to par with other good ones out there. Its like low end good if that makes sense. Definitely drinkable, acceptable for the style but in no way stands out to me amongst the others across the midwest

On tap at a local bar. Beer came to me with little to no head; the usual bronze orange hue of most American marzens. Not much smell, some biscuity malt, but pleasant enough. I was surprised how good it tasted, like a lower alcohol Great Lakes which is my go to marzen. Heavy on the malts, some caramel, and bread. Very easy drinking ; could easily have 3-4 of these. Not too carbonated, which I appreciate in a marzen , and not too syrupy mouthfeel. I would definitely order this beer again if available again. I don't think R Shea distributes very far from Akron, though.

16 FL.OZ. can
Served in a pint glass

This beer pours copper in color with a slight haze. It is topped with an inch of tan head.

Toast and toffee aroma.

Toast, caramel, light hops flavor. Light flavor overall.

Medium bodied with a slightly chalky mouthfeel

Smooth, easy drinking lager.

16 oz can, poured into a Karmeliet glass at 40 degrees F.

L: Poured a nigh opaque orange-red, and formed a couple fingers of just off-white head that dwindled to a cap and ring fairly quickly.

S: Not unlike a cinnamon bun, with hints of cherries.

T: Hmm. Opens bready, and then segues quickly into a cherry cough syrup when cold. As it warms, the medicinal quality fades away, and new notes open up - an herbal dryness, some mild chestnut, and a grassy finish. Definitely allow this one a little time and space to breathe.

F: Medium-light, vaguely sticky.

O: Not a bad marzen, once it warms up a bit.

Made with local hop (just one: Barnum) and West Branch malts from Brunswick, Ohio. Delicious märzen that’s an unabashed malt party that pours a hazy bright orange with two fingers of foam. Aroma is a pleasant malty one. Light sweet malt flavor that coats the mouth but doesn’t cross over to a too sweet area. Low ABV makes this one an easy drinker. Pint can sampled; also available on tap.

Glossy clear burnt amber to acorn brown with a very short bubbly uniform khaki head settling to a fluid surface and thin chain.

Pleasantly herbal, even lightly floral hops meet sweet toasty malt that is faintly nutty and bready, like old world bread crust, before exhaling a hint of Honey Nut Cheerios.

The medium body has a fine soft fizz and finishes semi-dry.

The owner said this is his favorite style and it shows, there is a lot of love poured into this brew of his and it's very well done.
