Looks are typical for a stout, but good tannish head that diminished after a few minutes. Very modest lacing. Aroma was about as well balanced as you could want with chocolate and coffee complimenting each other well. Taste lacked any depty, but was pleasant and had a smooth, medium finish. Would buy again. 4 pk 16 oz cans was $10.99+ tax.

This brew is a small victory for R Shea! I will often ignore the smaller stouts, but R Shea's stock is always high with me.

It pours pretty serious looking, with great head and lacing. The aroma is a nice non-boozy coffee stout smell. The taste is great eve though the chocolate seems very dark and bitter, and unsweetened, and kind of gets lost, but it leaves a nice underpinning. While it may feel a little thin to my booze biased palate, it really has a nice balance and the huge amount of flavor.

Recommended. R Shea has had my carte blanche for a while - if I see any, I buy it, and this did not let me down. I've thought about trying to go down there sometime. It's a bit of a trek to the Ohio countryside from here in Cleveland.

From the 16 oz can poured into a snifter. This solid brew pours a dark
blackish brown with a very nice head of tan foam that settles to a thick ring,
thin light layer, and showcases some nice light lacing. Nose of dark coffee,
dark cocoa, char, and cream with hints of nutty malts. Flavors hit the mark with
cream touched dark coffee, dark chocolate, medium char, nutty malt, subtle
vanilla hints, and deep roasted goodness. Nice mouth feel; medium full body,
light carbonation with decent subtle lift, and a bitter malt finish laden with
coffee and cocoa.

Overall, a nice equal the sum of your parts brew!

Cheers

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is dominated by chocolate. Taste has coffee up front, chocolate makes it's presence felt, some roasted malts. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

16 FL. OZ. can
Served in a snifter

This beer pours black and is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves little lacing.

The smell is milk chocolate and coffee. It is quite pleasing.

Chocolate is upfront with a chocolate syrup flavor. The coffee comes in the back end. It is a little rough. It is acrid and somewhat bitter. The subsequent sip evens it out with the sweet chocolate again followed by more black coffee.

Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel

It is a pretty good beer. I just wish the coffee was smoother.

16 ounce can, canned on 12/30/2020. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head that stuck around a while. Good amount of lacing, too. I like the aroma, the brew smells like chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. For the most part the taste is pretty much like the aroma, but there's also some nuttiness and burnt/charred malt flavors noticeable too. Seems more chocolate than coffee to me, but that's a minor complaint. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall stout but I wish the coffee in it was stronger. With that being said it's worth trying if you get the chance to, especially if you like sweeter tasting stouts.

Canned on 1/13/21. 16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black; big fluffy khaki head that falls leaving great retention and nice lacing. The aromas have lots of roasted black coffee. Hints of vanilla frosting. Hints of ash. Malts are there. The flavors follow the nose. More coffee leading the way. More hints of vanilla. The chocolate does its thing. Subtle sweetness. Low bitterness. Solid malt backbone. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's extremely fluffy, slightly creamy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid coffee stout. It might not be the craziest one that I've ever had, but it's still nice.

Looks pretty standard for a stout, pours black with just a hint of red light coming through the glass when held up to light; light tan head lingers for a bit. Not picking up the coffee on the nose, chocolate dominates the aroma. Coffee shows up in the taste, however. Nice balance of roast, chocolate, and coffee. Mouthfeel is a tad thinner than I like my stouts, but that's a minor complaint. Overall, a pleasant, highly drinkable beer. Gets better as it warms up. This growler will be easy to finish.

Black with a small tan head that dies down fairly quickly.

Light coffee notes come through on the nose, as it warms, a big, huge shellfish roastiness becomes predominant.

The coffee is pretty bitter, the feel is dry, and again, as it warms, this becomes a very classic, super roasty stout, with a sort of shellfish undertone to it.
