22 ounce bottle, brewed 5/15/2020, Batch 54, barreled 6/5/2020, bottled 8/23/2021, Watershed bourbon whiskey barrel aged. Purchased at the brewery. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half or so inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, coconut, coffee and dark bread. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some burnt/charred malt and toffee flavors. Good amount of barrel character in both the taste and aroma. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. And for this version, I liked it more than the base one. If RShea makes a point to release the barrel aged versions at the brewery again in the future I'll have to stop by again to get these! Certainly worth picking up if you come across some!
