Canned 7/6/22
This is yet another random Cleveland pickup, one from a brewery I’ve never even heard of. I’m not usually a big Witbier guy but this one was calling my name for some reason. Perhaps I’m just a sucker for tangerine. And now taking it out of the fridge to drink it, I am reminded to not trust my gut and check and to check the damn date. Ugh. Maybe it’ll be okay anyways
Pours a cloudy pale gold with 2 fingers of soapy off white head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
Obviously it doesn’t smell fresh, but it doesn’t smell super old either. I’m picking up on aromas of tangerine juice, earthy wheat, white pepper, bready malt, lemon zest, and light coriander
I’m honestly impressed that this is rather vibrant in taste. It was refrigerated at the store so I’m assuming it’s been cold most of its life which definitely helped. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tangerine juice, lemon zest, earthy wheat, peppery hops, coriander, bready malt, and light honey. The swallow brings notes of earthy wheat, honey, tangerine juice, lemon zest, earthy hops, white pepper, and light crackery malt
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky but dries out over time
Shockingly, this seems to have held up pretty well. Sure, it’s not great, but I would not have guessed it’s a year old Witbier
