Matte black with a sparse tan head that dissipates quickly.
A touch of molasses crops up in a somewhat smoother and rounder than expected body relative to its sister stouts next to it. A fine but airy foam lightly expands after a second before becoming a little spicy and warm on the exhale, but not quite splintery.
These last three non-brandy New Coasters I tried were all really solid, but also quite similar. Still, first taste won out for me this night, which was the 6 Year Templeton Rye.
