Interesting sour. The addition of lactose tamps down the vinegary aspects of the this ale and brings a smoother feel. The orange has a slight tang but just misses the bitter bite of rind/pith. Decent enough.

Burnt reddish-copper and no head.

Smell is toasty and almost salty like a Gose with a stinging, tart red fruit accent.

Taste is wafer malt with lightly tart grape and cherry suckers via a frothy medium body and sticky dry finish.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/23/2018. Pours slightly hazy golden orange/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart/tangy oranges, lemon, lime, citrus zest, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white grape, vanilla, cream, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, hay, straw, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, orange, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart/tangy oranges, lemon, lime, citrus zest, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white grape, vanilla, cream, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, hay, straw, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Very mild fruity/lactic tartness and fruit tang on the finish. Lingering notes of tart oranges, lemon, lime, citrus zest, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white grape, vanilla, cream, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, hay, straw, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, orange, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt flavors; with a solid malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with zero cloying/puckering flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering tartness/tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and lightly acidic/tangy mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an excellent milkshake sour. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, orange, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the very mildly acidic/drying finish. Great balance of Lacto, oranges, vanilla, lactose, and pale/wheat malts. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
