Roak Pumpkin Pie Milkshake IPA pours with an attractive bright yellow-orange glow. The body is quite hazy, evidence of a substantial amount of pumpkin mash. The color is closer to that of an IPA than a true pumpkin beer. The nose is greeted with a startling array.. grapefruit, pineapple, and bread notes from the IPA mesh with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove pumpkin spicing. This seemingly disjointed meld actually works beautifully.. the bouquet is unusually refreshing. The taste is boldly different than competetive brews, but smooth. There is a sweetness much like a honey kolsch enveloping the pumpkin IPA, and a satisfying bready wheat aftertaste. The mouthfeel is a bit oily, but that accompanies a robust amount of pumpkin mash. Moderate lacing is present throughout consumption. I don't get the 'milkshake' connotation in the name, but it's somewhat irrelevant.. this is a delicious hybrid of two beer styles I previously thought were rigidly separate and distinct. I bought a 4 pack this year.. I'll go for a case in 2022. Nicely done, Roak Brewing Co.!

This beer is an excellent example of a beer that tastes as described. If you’re looking for something sweet, however, it’s not as expected. It is spicy, bready, and very canned pumpkin tasting. All the layers are there from the cinnamon to the crust to the soft pumpkin. I really enjoyed it. All the flavors are there plus the amazing bitter Hop flavor. The creaminess of the lactose adds a lot to the feel as well. Would recommend.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma is sweet fruit and spices. Tastes of pumpkin and pumpkin spice. Finishes slightly bitter.
