Pours a dark brown/ black with no light passing through with a medium dark caramel colored head. Smells exactly like chocolate lava cake! Taste is watered down coffee with a hint of chocolate. Wished it was thick and chocolate.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little stout pours a dark
brownish black with a subtle head of kahki foam that settles to a thin
ring with subtle lacing. Nose of dark bakers chocolate, vanilla, char,
deep roast, and faint dark coffee. Flavors follow nicely with dark
bakers chocolate, dark coffee, vanilla, cream, brulee, and subtle dark
fruit expressions. mouthfeel is medium full, medium full body, smooth,
moderately coating, and finishing with a welcoming bitter malt finish.
Overall---a solid little brew, a hair on the sweet side, but still plenty
of roast and char to fill in the gaps.
Cheers

The second variant of the tasty Devil Dog line-up for me.
The essence of chocolate lava cake doesn't really come through big in the nose, but the flavor more than makes up for it. Chocolatey without being too sickly sweet.

12 ounce can, no dating that I noticed. Bought as part of the Devil Dog variety pack with the regular and French Toast versions. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like chocolate cake, vanilla and a bit of nuts. To me the taste is pretty similar to the aroma, but there's also a bit of dark breadiness and coffee flavors noticeable. But overall it really does have a chocolate lava cake flavor. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy, smooth and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. Worth picking up if you're into sweeter tasting oatmeal stouts!

12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black; khaki head that fades leaving decent retention and lacing. The aromas are malt forward along with a decent amount of vanilla and milk chocolate. The flavors bold and slightly rich. More milk chocolate and vanilla. Some frosting. There's a nice amount of hazelnuts and almonds coming through. Low bitterness. It's slightly sweet, but nothing crazy or over the top. Solid malt backbone. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, creamy and smooth.
This is a really nice stout. It has a nice dessert vibe going on. The chocolate lava cake aspects come to fruition. The execution is impressive. It's very enjoyable and fun to drink. Well done.
